The Green & Healthy Schools Academy is an initiative that embraces the principles of sustainability as a means of achieving the thriving schools communities we all seek. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to become the civic-minded, responsible, engaged, and self-motivated critical thinkers and problem solvers of tomorrow.

Since 2008, the Green Building Alliance has worked with students, schools, higher education institutions, businesses, organizations, and citizens to seek sustainable communities and places of learning. In 2012, GBA launched the Green Schools Academy to formally engage schools in setting bold visions for their buildings, students, and communities. In 2014, the Academy was renamed as the Green & Healthy Schools Academy to reflect our underlying commitment to health and well-being.
